After getting a job offer in Costa Rica that we couldn't pass, we have to put the bus conversion on pause. A friend offered his property as a temporary home for the bus while we were gone. The current need to quaratine pushed us back home to Texas. Now with more time on our hands, we are given the perfect opportunity to continue our build! We got the last piece of skin on! Next fiberglass and bondo!
This piece is a single sheet of 20 gauge, paint grip sheet metal. It was made from a paper template that we stretched across the gaping hole as best we could and traced the opening. After tracing the bus curvature, we then took it down, flattened it out, cut along the lines, and traced it onto our sheet of metal. Ultimately, the piece ended up too short all the way around but was the correct shape. We improvised by adding round bar support stitches on the inside of the curves to give them structure. In hindsight, I would have cut it big and cut off excess material as needed. All being said, I still believe this is the easiest method for a roof transition, I highly recommend it.

Wish us luck!
